How can leverage the power of logistics to improve food and nutrition security, sustainability, and reduce waste? The Food Logistics Innovation Challenge is a global open call for innovators and change-makers who have solutions that can tackle food logistics’ most pressing challenges. Join them!
The Challenge is open to startups worldwide who have solutions that are relevant to launch or scale in the APAC market. Startups with an existing prototype and some traction or investment are highly encouraged to apply.
This innovation challenge is looking for solutions across the entire food value chain (from production through to waste) that contribute to more inclusive, efficient, and sustainable practices – including optimised and sustainable production and distribution of agrifood products, tracking of food provenance, smart retail and sales of agrifood products, better waste management, etc.
Areas of interest include (but are not limited to):
- Digital marketplaces
- Cold chain storage and distribution
- Supply and demand traceability
- Efficient transport and trade systems
- Sustainable packaging
- Smart retailing
- Waste management
And other relevant areas which leverage the potential of cutting-edge science and technologies such as IoT, artificial intelligence, big data, remote sensing, synthetic biology, nanotech, and other breakthrough logistics tech.
Perks and Prizes
- Three (3) Winning Teams will be selected from the global pool of applicants to receive the following prize package from DHL:
- 2x 60-min personalised mentoring sessions with relevant DHL experts
- Chance to present their solution to Senior Executives at DHL
- Development of a POC (proof of concept) project that will bring your startup to a critical commercial inflection point (e.g. pilot project, market access, customer acquisition)
- Visibility and credibility via public promotion of your solution by Thought For Food.
Eligibility Criteria
- The Food Logistics Innovation Challenge powered by DHL in collaboration with Thought For Food is open to any startups at any stage. Teams may be composed of participants from the same or different disciplines, communities, countries, universities, etc. Only one entry per team. Employees, vendors, contractors, and regional leadership (volunteer or otherwise) of Foundation and of Foundation donors or their affiliates are not eligible to enter or win.
- Participation in the Food Logistics Innovation Challenge powered by DHL in collaboration with Thought For Food is voluntary and subject to all applicable federal, state, provincial and local laws and regulations. You are responsible for checking and complying with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction before participating in the Food Logistics Innovation Challenge powered by DHL in collaboration with Thought For Food. You also are responsible for obtaining all permits, passports, visas, and other government-required documents and permissions needed to participate in all elements of the Food Logistics Innovation Challenge powered by DHL in collaboration with Thought For Food, and any federal, state, provincial or local taxes that may be levied on prize monies.
Judging Criteria
- Entries will be judged based on the following criteria: innovation and uniqueness, business potential, traction and scalability, scientific / technical feasibility, and impact. From the submissions received, a panel of judges, selected by Foundation in its sole discretion, will select up to three (3) winners (“Winners”). Winners will be announced via the Thought For Food website, email and social media no later than April 15th, 2023
