The call for projects is launched in the framework of the Memorandum of understanding signed by the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation of the Kingdom of Morocco, and the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation of the Swiss Confederation. with an aims at strengthening the collaboration between Swiss and Moroccan institutions by allocating seed money funding to pilot projects.
The goal of this instrument is to allow researchers to conduct joint activities in order to build teams, to apply for grants from other funding agencies, and/or to develop long-term partnership between the institutions or research groups involved.
The call is coordinated on the Moroccan side by the Department of Scientific Research and Innovation, and on the Swiss side by the Leading House for the Middle East and North Africa (LHMENA), managed by the University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland (HES-SO).
Objectives
- The Morocco-Switzerland joint call for projects aims to strengthen collaboration between Swiss and Moroccan institutions. This is impulse financing which aims to finance seed projects.
- The purpose of the instrument is to enable researchers to carry out joint activities so that they can form teams, seek support from other funding bodies, and/or develop long-term partnerships. between institutions or research groups.
- Projects can take the following form (non-exhaustive list):
- Preparation of a collaborative research project for submission to calls for national and/or European projects;
- Organization of a conference, a thematic seminar or a summer or winter school;
- Meetings with a view to setting up training, joint research, internships accredited, etc
- Mobility of professors, researchers and doctoral students.

Funding Information
- The maximum amount of the subsidy is 10,000 francs for the Swiss partner and 100,000 dirhams for the Moroccan partner.
- Projects will be funded for a maximum of 24 months.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible, a project must be led by at least one Moroccan candidate and one Swiss candidate.
- On the Moroccan side, research teams belonging to universities, universities within the framework of public-private partnership, public research establishments and higher education establishments that are not part of universities, are eligible for funding.
- On the Swiss side, scientists attached to a federal polytechnic school, a cantonal university, a specialized university or a university of teacher education, as well as a public research institution (as defined in art. 5 of the Federal Act for the Promotion of Research and Innovation), are eligible. He or she must have a contract of indefinite duration or until the end of the project, and have research experience of three years or more.
- The project must relate to developments for civilian use.
