Applications are now open for the 2022/23 South Australian Suicide Prevention Community Grants, providing $180,000 funding to local communities to support state suicide prevention projects and activities.
Funding Information
- Successful projects will be allocated up to $10,000 each (GST exclusive).
- Once-off funding is available in the 2022-23 financial year only and organisations should not have an expectation of ongoing funding from Wellbeing SA.
Eligible Projects
- A wide variety of projects that support communities across South Australia to take positive action known to promote inclusion and reduce stigma and the risk of suicide. Projects that directly and clearly benefit local communities and strengthen the mental wellbeing and resilience of local people and places will be considered.
- Projects must be community led and increase one or more of the following:
- Improved community connectedness and resilience
- Improved mental health and wellbeing and suicide prevention awareness and literacy
- Increased capacity of communities to lead positive action to promote mental health and wellbeing and prevent suicide risk.
- Improved mental health and wellbeing of the community as a whole and/or identified groups known to be at risk of suicide
- Improved help-seeking behaviours to support mental health and wellbeing and prevent risk of suicide
- Improved care, compassion and inclusion for people at risk of suicide in the community.
- Projects can focus on whole of community, or on specific groups of people that are at higher risk. Specific groups might include first responders, young people, older people, Aboriginal people, people from a culturally or linguistically diverse background, veterans, people living with disability, LGBTIQA+ community, those experiencing unexpected life stressors (financial, relationship), or others.
- Projects must support a group of people rather than an individual.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications are welcomed and encouraged from organisations or groups with strong connection and commitment to suicide prevention including:
- community groups
- voluntary groups
- charities
- schools
- non-government organisations
- local government.
- Any partner organisations should also be listed in the application.
- The applying organisation (or their auspice organisation, if relevant) must meet several other important criteria:
- The applying (or auspice) organisation must have an active Australian Business Number (ABN).
- The applying (or auspice) organisation must be incorporated.
- The applying organisation must be based in, or be active in, South Australia.
- The applying (or auspice) organisation must have Public Liability Insurance with a minimum of $1 million per claim or be willing to obtain this public liability insurance (the cost of which can be covered by grant funding).
Ineligible
- individuals / sole traders
- for-profit or commercial organisations
- research foundations
- trusts
- professional associations
- statutory authorities
- Commonwealth or South Australian government departments
- organisations that have licensed gaming machines in their facilities.
