The Wodonga City Council is inviting applications for the Young Achiever Scheme (YAS) to recognise and support young people, 24 years old and under, who display an outstanding commitment to and/or achievement in their chosen endeavour.
The scheme provides financial assistance to young people to participate, develop skills, compete, perform or represent Wodonga in their chosen endeavour at a local, state, national or international level. Individuals or groups are eligible to apply.

Levels of Support
- Individual
- $100 – local level
- $200 – state level
- $400 – national level
- $600 – international level.
- Groups
- $200 – local level
- $400 – state level
- $600 – national level
- $800 – international level.
Note: Financial assistance will be awarded until the annual YAS budget has been expended.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must meet the following criteria.
- Be 24 years of age or under at the conclusion of the activity.
- Must reside in Wodonga.
- Be participating, developing skills, competing, performing or representing Wodonga in their chosen endeavour at a local, state, national or international level.
- Be able to provide the council with proof of participation in the event/activity.
- Must not be paid for their performance or participation.
- Must attend council meeting in order to receive grant funding.
Conditions of Funding
- Applications will be open monthly throughout the year (applications will close at midnight on the last day of every month).
- Applications must be made at wod.city/YAS.
- Applications must be lodged at least three weeks prior to attending the activity.
- Applications must include a clear description of activity/event and proof of participation in the activity/event (receipt of entry fee, letter of participation, etc.).
- Successful applicants will be formally recognised at the next available public council meeting and are expected to provide information for a media release.
- Must attend council meeting in order to receive grant funding. Check wodonga.vic.gov.au for council meeting dates.
- Applicants must upload required documents from checklist.
Ineligible
- Applicants are ineligible if they have received support from the scheme in the previous 18 months.
- Applications for team officials, organisers or coaches.
- Applicants who receive individual commercial sponsorship of $1000 or more.
- Applications from schools and tertiary institutions.
- Activities that promote alcohol, gambling and smoking.
- Activities that encourage an unhealthy portrayal of body image.
