The SMART Balkans Project announces a public call for applications for Concept Notes for National intervention Grants.
SMART Balkans Project, funded by the Norway Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is implemented by consortium of organizations: Centar za promociju civilnog drustva (CPCD) from Bosnia and Herzegovina as a Lead Applicant, in partnership with Center for Research and Policy Making (CRPM) from North Macedonia, and Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM) from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia.
Focus Areas
- National intervention Grants will provide funding for projects related to two main areas:
- Security and Stability
- Governance
Objectives
- Overall objective of the Project is to contribute to strengthening participatory democracies and Euro Atlantic integrations in the Western Balkans by empowering civil society organizations and CSO networks for stronger and active role in creating peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia.
- Specific objectives of the SMART Balkans project are:
- Stronger, more sustainable, and vibrant CSOs in the six countries of the Western Balkans region
- Developed strong regional partnerships between civil society organizations from the region of the Western Balkans themselves and with their EU counterparts and public authorities
- Increased effectiveness of citizen influencing change through CSOs that advances Security and Stability and Governance in the Western Balkans region
- Increased awareness of public on importance of active participation of civil society in major development initiatives in the region of Western Balkans

- Within this call, SMART Balkan will support at least nine projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina with with an awarded grant amount of NOK 306,000 to 543,000 (EUR 29,800 – 53,000) per project.
- Amounts total available _ ABOUT your distributed IN this call ABOUT Kosovo is 4,900,000 NOK ( approximately 468,000 EUR), for 9 grants , with the amount ABOUT PRoject THAT varies from 306,000 to at NOK 543,000 (EUR 29,800 – 53,000).
- Within this call, SMART Balkan will support at least four projects in Montenegro with the allocated with a grant amount of 306,000 to 543,000 NOK (29,800 – 53,000 EUR). By project.
- Within this call, SMART Balkan will support 4 projects from S. Macedonia , a the amount of the grant will range from 306,000 to 543,000 NOK ( €30,000 to €53,230 )
- The total amount of funds available for distribution under this call for Serbia is NOK 4,887,000 (approximately EUR 477,000) for 10 grants, with individual amounts ranging between NOK 306,000 to 543,000 (EUR 30,000 – 53,000).
- Duration: The duration of the supported initiatives will be from 12 to 18 months.
Acceptable Activities
- This is a non-exhaustive list of activities that are eligible for this type of grant:
- Advocacy campaign including the production of promotional and awareness materials (eg materials research, video, products media , excluding materials promotional of printed ).
- Creation of group of working ABOUT development of laws or strategies of news , engagement of experts , etc.
- Working groups for the establishment of mechanisms and/or the development of action plans, strategies, procedures and the like in which experts are engaged,
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant primary must:
- Of be a legal person AND
- Of non -profit life AND
- be a civil society organization (CSO), working in one or more thematic areas relevant to this Call for Applications, excluding political, religious and religious organizations, as well as local branches of international organizations and
- Of established life in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, S. Macedonia, Serbia
