Deadline: 28-Feb-23
If you have a great community arts and culture event in mind and need some financial support to realise your idea, the Creative Communities Scheme (CCS) may be able to assist you.
The CCS fund aims to increase participation from the local community in the arts sector, support the diversity of local cultural traditions, and encourage and engage young people to participate in local arts. ‘Arts’ is broadly defined to mean all forms of creative and interpretative expression.
The Creative Communities Scheme is a partnership between Creative New Zealand (the national arts development agency) and local councils in New Zealand. The scheme promotes community involvement, diversity and young people participating in the arts.
Funding Information
- Creative New Zealand (CNZ) spends over $3.2 million each year supporting around 1,800 projects through the Creative Communities Scheme. Tauranga City Council administers the Creative Communities Fund for Tauranga.
- There is no limit to how much you can apply for, however the majority of grants are between $2,000 – $4,000+GST.
What costs can I get funding for?
- Materials for arts activities or programmes
- Venue or equipment hire
- Personnel and administrative costs for short-term projects
- Promotion and publicity of arts activities.
Principles
- Applicants should also be able to show that their proposed project meets at least one of Tauranga city’s six Community Funding Principles of Support.
- Communities of Need and Social Equity – They want their city to be a great place to live for everyone. As their city grows and changes, they want to ensure that no one in their community is left behind. They support events that activate areas of high deprivation and engage with their communities of need. These communities have been identified through the Draft Community Wellbeing Strategic Plan as Arataki, Gate Pa, Greerton, Kairua, Matapihi and Merivale.
- Encourage Kaupapa Māori Outcomes – They value the importance of strengthening and supporting Kaupapa Māori outcomes and acknowledge the need for nurturing strong relationships founded on Māori values, principles and practices.
- Community Pride and Belonging – They are committed to celebrating their diverse cultural identities and heritages, and they will foster the creative arts to enhance the quality of life of their community, and to enable people to feel a sense of belonging and inclusion.
- Wellbeing and participation – Tauranga is an inclusive city that enables accessible opportunities for their community to participate in and experience arts and culture events, to support improved wellbeing.
- Safe and Resilient Communities – They want people to be safe and feel safe, in their homes, neighbourhoods and public places.
- Environmental Sustainability – They support environmental restoration, helping minimise their impact on the environment and promoting sustainability of their resources in Tauranga Moana.
