UN Women is pleased to announce a call for proposals to support women political aspirants at local level including young and marginalised women throughout the electoral cycle.
Under this call, UN Women is planning to support women political aspirants at local level including young and marginalised women throughout the electoral cycle. In the view of the presidential and legislative election to take place in October 2023, a training programme to advance women’s political leadership and skills will be developed and delivered to increase the very low level of participation of women in elected positions.
The expected tasks of the partner agreement are as follows
- Develop and deliver candidate training programme (based on UN women’s Political Leadership and Candidates Training Manual and workbook) to a minimum of 150 aspiring women to become involved in politics and run for election in 2023 from the 15 counties. Administer pre and post training tests and report the results in line with the manual.
- Provide and facilitate networking and peer to peer learning opportunities for women in politics and women aspirants
- Organise debates among political parties on gender equality and women empowerment issues.
Funding Information
- The budget range for this proposal should be 180,000.00 – 200,000.00.
Timeframe: Start date and end date for completion of required services/results
- Indicative start date: 05 April 2023
- Indicative end date: 31 January 2024
- All pre- election activities should be completed before July 2023. Monitoring of the project will be done during and post election to document project result.
Competencies
- Technical/functional competencies required:
- Track record of experience in the field of human rights, gender equality, women’s empowerment.
- Specialized knowledge and expertise in the field of training for women aspirants/ women political party members/
- Experience in engaging with multiple stakeholders, including but not limited to governmental and non-governmental organizations, political actors, and advocacy networks.
- Experience and proven track record/credibility and capacity on gender and development, RBM and its application to key processes (e.g., planning, programming, monitoring, reporting and evaluation), and other areas of expertise relevant to the services required;
- Capacity to deliver expected results: governance and management competency, and financial and administrative competency.
- Relevant experience in partnerships with UN Women, other UN agencies, governments, NGOs, and development actors
- Other competencies, which while not required, can be an asset for the performance of services
- Experience in facilitating exchange of ideas, good practices and dissemination of knowledge and information throughout Liberia in the field of women’s political participation is an asset.
- Familiarity with UN agencies will be an asset.
