The Auckland Council is now accepting applications for the Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Quick Response Grant Programme.
Priorities
- They welcome grant applications that align to the following priorities:
- The people are cared for and enabled to participate, celebrate and contribute to the community.
- The young people are engaged in the community and have access to a wide range of opportunities.
- The community is a safer place.
- They demonstrate environmental leadership and support community sustainability initiatives.
- They have clean, beautiful waters and waterside areas.
- They develop social enterprise initiatives that benefit the whole community.
- They head towards zero-waste.
- The businesses, town centres and industry flourish and provide high-quality jobs.
- The urban development is high-quality and reflects the character of the area.
- The suburbs and town centres are desirable places to live, work and play.
- They have safe and constantly improving community facilities, and high-quality open spaces.
- They have better transport connections and improved infrastructure, and they keep up with growth and development.
- Higher priority for eligibility
- They will give higher priority to applications that:
- are inclusive and support under-represented members of the community
- support smokefree events.
- They will also consider:
- applications for matching funding. This is where grants are provided in exchange for equal amounts of volunteer labour, cash, or donated goods and services, up to the value of 40 per cent. Applications will be prioritised and assessed under the same priorities as other grants
- applicants who have considered other sources of funding for their projects.
- They will give higher priority to applications that:
- Lower priority for eligibility
- They have also identified lower priorities:
- Catering.
- Electronic equipment.
- Ongoing administration costs – for example wages, salaries or rent.
- Fundraising activities for a group or organisation.
- Projects or events outside the local board area.
- Initiatives that are eligible and can be funded by central government.
- Projects that do not demonstrate any benefit to the wider community.
- They have also identified lower priorities:

Types of projects funded by the grant
Eligibility Criteria
- community organisations with a formal legal structure
- groups or individuals with no formal legal structure can apply for up to $1,000 (Kaipatiki Local Board will not fund individuals)
- applicants seeking funding over $1,000 will need to nominate an umbrella organisation or
- receive funding retrospectively
Ineligible
- gifts and prizes
- groups that have failed to meet accountability obligations from previous council grants except in exceptional circumstances.
- Political parties
- Internal applicants
- Auckland Council CCOs
- Other local authorities, government agencies or public sector entities
