The U.S. Embassy in Iraq of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a program to build capacity among civil society organizations in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region and Kirkuk governorate.
Program Objectives
- Civil society organizations across the Iraqi Kurdistan Region depend on an ever-shrinking pool of money, largely from international organizations, Embassies and Consulates, and other foreign donors. In order to ensure the long-term viability of Iraqi Kurdish civil society, many of these organizations need additional training in fields including:
- management & leadership skills;
- donor development & grant writing;
- budgeting and project management;
- external communications;
- and strategic planning.
Funding Information
- Length of performance period: 3
- Number of awards anticipated: 1 award.
- Award amounts: awards may range from a minimum of $25,000 to a maximum of $50,000.
- Total available funding: $50,000
- Anticipated programs start date: August 1, 2023
Priority Region: Iraqi Kurdistan Region, with particular emphasis on civil society organizations headquartered in Sheikhan, Halabja governorate, and Kirkuk governate.
Participants and Audiences: The chosen audience should focus on those described in the “Priority Region.” The minimum number of participants shall be 20.

- Not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations.
- Public and private educational institutions
- Public International Organizations
