WiT is part of the bank’s commitment to fostering gender equality and driving innovation in the rapidly evolving technological landscape, aimed at empowering and supporting women entrepreneurs in the technology sector.
Standard Chartered has partnered with WomHub on this initiative to provide a platform for aspiring women entrepreneurs in South African STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Manufacturing) industries, developing their innovative tech-based business ideas and accelerating their growth.
The programme will also offer a comprehensive range of resources, including mentorship, training, networking opportunities, access to funding, and a supportive community of like-minded individuals. Through a comprehensive curriculum the initiative aims to cultivate a supportive ecosystem that enables women to thrive and overcome barriers that hold them back.

Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must identify as women and serve as founders or co-founders of a Tech business/enterprise.
- Applicants must be over the age of 18. There is no upper age limit.
- Individual applicants must be citizens of South Africa. For teams of two or more, the main applicant must be a citizen of South Africa.
- The innovation or business/enterprise must be based and registered in South Africa.
- Applicants’ business must be in the Technology industry, although are not required to be Tech graduate or student themselves.
- The applicant’s business can be any new or innovative product, technology, or service in the Tech sector.
- Applicants must be able to commit to the full duration of programme commencing in May 2023 to April 2024.
