The Family and Sexual Violence: Supporting Diverse Communities Grants Program 2023-24 (FSV Grants Program) will provide grants up to $150,000 per application for community organisations to deliver community-based projects and/or enhanced service capability to support inclusion, access and equity for diverse people and groups who experience barriers to support for family and sexual violence.
The Tasmanian Government is committed to ensuring that Tasmanians experiencing family and sexual violence have access to specialist support services that meet their unique needs and circumstances. This includes supporting people who are at increased risk of experiencing violence or who may experience additional barriers to seeking support, including older Tasmanians, people from rural and regional communities, LGBTIQ+ communities, people with disability, Tasmanian Aboriginal people, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and people on temporary visas.
Priority Areas
- The Family and Sexual Violence: Diverse Communities Grants Program includes four priority areas for funding:
- Additional support and/or tailored service delivery.
- Early intervention responses with regard to addressing non-physical forms of violence.
- Innovative solutions to increase operational capacity and/or build workforce capacity to respond to diverse communities.
- Improving evidence and data collection.
- Examples of suitable projects (without being exhaustive) could include:
- A pilot project involving a partnership with a community-based specialist FSV service to deliver training to help staff awareness of working with diverse communities;
- A pilot project focussed on innovative services through achieving the outcome of more inclusive service delivery (i.e. not being restricted to just men’s or women’s service delivery);
- A pilot project on how to address a service gap in the family and sexual violence sector; and
- Legal support for diverse communities in a regional /remote areas.
Funding Information
- The total funding pool for the Family and Sexual Violence: Diverse Communities Grants Program is $675,000. Grants up to $150,000 will be available.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible Applicants
- Applicants who apply must:
- be an organisation that delivers community support, services and/or programs to Tasmanians:
- who have proven experience in delivery of services/projects where diverse communities (Aboriginal people, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) people, women on temporary visas, people with disability, LGBTQIA+ communities, older people, and people living in regional, rural and remote locations) are the beneficiaries, and/ or
- who have proven experience working with victim-survivors of family and sexual violence directly, or developing the capacity or capability of specialist services in the family and sexual violence sector.
- be an incorporated organisations registered under the Associations Incorporations Act 1964. and
- can either be:
- a local government authority (councils);
- not-for-profit organisations; or
- not-for-profit companies registered under company law
- Eligible organisations who are working directly with diverse communities need to demonstrate:
- Their employees or contractors have current Working with Vulnerable People registrations.
- Their organisation embeds a trauma informed approach.
- be an organisation that delivers community support, services and/or programs to Tasmanians:
- Note: Eligible organisations who are successfully awarded a grant are required to hold and maintain appropriate public liability insurance.
- Applicants will be required to provide a copy of their public liability insurance as part of the application process.
- Applicants who apply must:
- Ineligible Applicants
- The following entitles are not eligible to apply for funding under the Program:
- Australian Government agencies;
- Tasmanian Government agencies;
- schools or colleges (Government or private);
- political parties;
- individuals and/or sole traders; or
- for profit organisations and businesses.

Timeframe
- Outcome expected to be advised (estimated date): Within six weeks of applications closing
- Projects are expected to be completed by: 30 December 2024
