Nominations are open for Javier Valdez Cárdenas Journalism Award 2018.
Penguin Random House Publishing Group, through Editorial Aguilar, invites all Mexican and foreign journalists and reporters based in Mexico to participate in this prize.
The conditions of the contest are as follows: each participant must submit a journalistic research project on one of the topics of the national agenda. The jury will privilege the projects that deal with the issues that worried Javier Valdez Cárdenas throughout his work: organized crime, political corruption, victims of violence, abuse of power, performance of the armed forces, deterioration social, among others.
Funding Information
The prize consists of a direct support to the research or project up to $ 50,000.00 (fifty thousand pesos 00/100 MN), as expenses to be checked, and $ 150,000.00 (one hundred fifty thousand pesos 00/100 MN) to account of royalties that will receive from the delivery of the book, according to agreement between the author and the publisher.
Eligibility Criteria
- All professionals of Mexican journalism born in their country or foreigners with at least five years of verifiable stay in national territory may participate.
- The project must be presented individually, with the name that the journalist uses in his professional work, well documented, with the mentions, whatever they may be, of sources, references and bibliography.
- The winner of the research project is committed to converting it into a book within a period of no more than one year with a minimum length of 150 pages.
- The author of the winning project is committed in time and form with the established in his proposal and the times set by the publisher for the publication of the winning work, any circumstance that exceeds this point will be agreed between the winning participant and the publisher .
- Projects whose work is in the opinion of an editorial or contracted by any of their labels or other publishing houses can not participate.
- Works will not be accepted by email, proposals that do not meet the requirements, thesis for any degree or projects that do not meet the established requirements.
