The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the Embassy of the United States of America to Mauritius and Seychelles has announced a funding opportunity through the Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program.
PAS Port Louis invites proposals from non-governmental organizations in the Republic of Mauritius and the Republic of Seychelles for programs that highlight shared values and promotes bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Mauritius, the Republic of Seychelles and the United States of America. All programs must include a U.S. element that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives.
Priority Program Areas
- Voter Education: The Embassy of the United States of America to Mauritius and Seychelles seeks proposals that will expand the voter and civic education of citizens of the Republic of Mauritius/Republic of Seychelles. The objective is to support democracy in the Republic of Mauritius/Republic of Seychelles by increasing voter turnout, especially young/first-time voters, women, and underserved communities for the next parliamentary/presidential elections.
- Entrepreneurship and Innovation: The Embassy of the United States of America to Mauritius and Seychelles seeks proposals in entrepreneurship and innovation that will help (1) create jobs in Mauritius/Seychelles, (2) bridge the gap between the educational system and the job market, (3) unleash the creative and innovative potential of citizens of Mauritius and Seychelles, especially university-age youth, women, and underserved communities, (4) promote innovation in emerging technologies like blockchain and technologies related to 5G, and (5) strengthen economic ties with the United States, including trade and foreign direct investment.
Funding Information
- Award amounts: Awards may range from a minimum of $1,000 to a maximum of $5,000
- Program Performance Period: Proposed programs must be completed in 6-8 months.
Eligible Applicants
- PAS encourages applications from Mauritian and Seychelles is:
- Registered not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/nongovernmental organizations with programming experience
- For-profit or commercial entities, governmental organizations and individuals are not eligible to apply.
