Nominations are now open for the 2019 Charity Impact Awards with a commitment to educate and inspire through storytelling, will celebrate the positive impact community, voluntary and charitable organisations and social enterprises are making in people’s lives across the length and breadth of Ireland.
The Awards will raise awareness of our sector’s positive impact and also promote best practice across the sector by telling the stories of those who have dedicated our lives to improving their communities.
Award Categories
- Impact Awards: This award celebrates the work of community and voluntary and charitable organisations, clubs or groups that have brought about positive change.
- Community Hero Award: The 2019 Community Hero Award (in association with the Volunteer Ireland Awards) is a lifetime achievement award honouring a volunteer who has made an extraordinary contribution to a good cause over the course of their lifetimes.
- Trustee of the Year Award: This award aims to shine a light on voluntary trustees who have made an extraordinary contribution to an organisation.
- Social Enterprise Award: This award recognises the impact of social enterprises. Social enterprises are social-mission focused organisations that engage in trading activity in a way to achieve their social mission, or to generate a contribution to the cost of delivering their mission.
- Mary Redmond Award: The Mary Redmond Award is a new national honour, bestowed by The Wheel’s board of directors on a person who has made an extraordinary contribution to civil society in Ireland. The award is named after Dr Mary Redmond, the late academic, lawyer and founder of The Wheel and the Irish Hospice Foundation.
This category is open to:
- Small Organisations
- This category is open to all independently governed and constituted community, voluntary or charitable organisations with no paid staff.
- Medium-sized Organisations
- All entries in this category must be registered with the Charities Regulator.
- Large Organisations
- All entries in this category must be registered with the Charities Regulator.
Eligibility Criteria
- This award is open to all independently governed community, voluntary and charitable organisations operating in the Republic of Ireland.
- This includes charities of all sizes, development NGOs, clubs and associations.
- All entries in the Medium and Large category must be registered with the Charities Regulator.
