The Afghan Women’s Empowerment (AWE) Grant Program is accepting new grant proposals with an aim to provide quick-impact grants to civil society organizations to undertake projects advancing women’s participation in the political sphere.
Objectives
- Encouraging women’s participation in Afghanistan’s political realm
- Increasing women’s advocacy for legislative change
- Raising women’s awareness of their constitutional rights within Afghanistan’s complex legal traditions
- Developing women’s leadership, networking, and advocacy skills
Grant Information
- The award amount is $5,000-$50,000.
- The project is scheduled to be completed in one year or less.
Eligibility Criteria
- AWE grants are intended for civil society organizations, including non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and universities, to undertake projects advancing women’s participation in political life.
- Organizations applying for an AWE grant should be Afghan-led.
- AWE will only accept applications from non-partisan organizations that are not working on behalf of a specific political party or lobbying for a particular political agenda.
How to Apply
- Applicants may submit their proposals to the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan by email as mentioned on the website.
- Applications in English, Dari, and Pashto are accepted, though English is strongly preferred.
