Deadline: 30-Sep-24
The Hungarian Women’s Fund (HWF) is inviting locally-based feminist groups in Hungary consisting of women or led by women to apply for their Pilot Grant Cycle.
The Hungarian Women’s Fund (HWF) was established to serve feminist and women’s rights organizations in the country.
Goals
- In the first grantmaking cycle, they aim to support feminist activist groups with small grants that have limited or no financial resources, and those organizing for the visibility, representation, and participation of women left behind in public discourse, as well as disadvantaged and discriminated women.
- Additionally, the first application process provides an opportunity to assess the needs of women’s organizations. Insights gained will contribute to the enhancement of their support strategy and decision-making processes.
Benefits
- In this first cycle, the Hungarian Women’s Fund can provide eight grants with a maximum funding amount of 2500 euros each. Projects can last up to a maximum of six months, starting no earlier than November 1, 2024, and must be completed by April 30, 2025, at the latest. Financial reports and project evaluations must be submitted by May 31. Payments will be made in two installments: the first upon signing the contract, and the second after the first half of the project period.
- In addition to financial support, they also offer non-monetary support to the winning groups during the implementation period. This is intended to strengthen your group in terms of knowledge and networking.
What do they support?
- If the group meets the aforementioned criteria, they are eligible to apply. MNA supports projects that contribute to improving the situation of women with a human rights and feminist approach. Within this framework, they do not limit topics, methods, or activities; any topic can be applied for as long as it contributes to improving the situation of women with a feminist approach, based on the needs of the group. Funding can be used for organizational operational costs as well as planned activities.
Eligibility Criteria
- Groups following feminist values, consisting of a minimum of three members, either informally or with legal personality, are eligible to apply;
- The group must be based and active within the territory of Hungary;
- Preference will be given to applications from outside the capital, but Budapest-based groups are not excluded;
- The leader of the group must be a woman, or in the case of a registered organization, the majority or entirety of the leadership (board, committee, directorate, executive team, etc.) must be women;
- The group’s activities should contribute to broadening the social base of the Hungarian feminist movements;
- Preference will be given to groups organizing and operating for the interests and participation of women who are not visible or represented in public, and/or who face disadvantage and discrimination.
