The Habitat Foundation is currently accepting applications for the Research Grants 2021.
The Habitat Foundation Research Grants are intended to strengthen understanding of tropical ecosystems and advance the conservation of priority species and habitat through improved conservation practice in Malaysia.
Proposals for the Research Grant should fulfil some or all of the following criteria:-
- focus on species and habitat of conservation significance;
- seek to address an important conservation question or issue;
- have the potential to improve conservation practice or contribute to more effective conservation actions;
- be conducted in collaboration with local people, organizations and/or government partners.
Funding Information
- The research should be conducted over a period of 12 – 20 months.
- The Grants typically cover field expenses, equipment, communications & awareness, and meeting costs.
- The value of the Research Grant ranges from RM10,000 to a maximum of RM25,000.
Eligibility Criteria
The Research Grants are to be used primarily for the fieldwork component of higher degree study for a Masters or PhD or a pilot study by an early career conservation practitioner.
Requirements
The proposal should not exceed 3,000 words. In the proposal, applicants should:-
- outline the reasons why the proposed research is timely and relevant;
- demonstrate that the study can be completed within the timeframe chosen;
- demonstrate that they have the relevant academic experience to conduct the proposed research;
- provide evidence of enrolment and list the supervisor(s) that will be guiding them in this research (for students)/ or provide letter of support from employer (for conservation practitioners);
- list the partners and regulatory authorities that will be engaged with for the study.
As a general guide, the proposal should have the following sections:
- Background on research topic and location
- Research question
- Research timeframe & milestones
- Budget
- Research partners and government authorities
- Information on supervisor(s) and letter of support
- Academic CV
- Information on institutional affiliation
- List of reports and publications (if applicable)
