The World Food Programme has launched a call for proposals as part of the Smallholder Farmers’ Access to Productive Resources for Inclusive and Climate-Resilient Food Systems in Burundi Program.
Through this joint project, the United Nations System aims to strengthen the economic autonomy and resilience of smallholder farmers, with a particular focus on women and youth in the targeted areas. The overall objective is to enable them to better cope with the challenges posed by climate change and exogenous shocks.
Objectives
- WFP wishes to collaborate with an implementing partner whose main mission will be to contribute to the achievement of the two priority objectives of the program:
- Objective 1:
- Strengthen the capacities and structuring of 40 VSLAs and 8 processing units (UT) by establishing a participatory planning process and developing their technical, organizational and management skills
- Objective 2:
- Improve small producers’ access to remunerative markets for the marketing of their food surpluses and improve their incomes. The selected partner will play a key role in the implementation of the interventions, working in synergy with local stakeholders to ensure sustainable and inclusive results.
- Objective 1:
Expected Results
- Result 1: Diagnosis and selection of AVECs and processing units
- Result 2: Strengthening the technical and organizational capacities of AVECs and UTs
- Result 3: Increase in sales of surplus from small producers
Eligibility Criteria
- Experience of the organization of at least 3 years in the implementation of proposals in the area of intervention of the WFP.
- The organization has a system of sound financial management and internal controls enabling prevention and fraud and corruption management, a policy and a prevention and fight system against the EAS.
