Deadline: 13-Sep-20
Akina Foundation is currently seeking applications for the Social Enterprise Kick start Grants.
Akina is proud to have joined forces with their two Rotary partners for the fifth year running! Together, they’re offering two grants to emerging social enterprises in the North Island:
- New Market Grant
- Wellington Grant
Funding Information
There are a total of two grants available:
- 1 x $10,000 in the upper North Island thanks to the Rotary Club of Newmarket
- 1 x $7,000 and 1 x $3,000 in the lower North Island thanks to the Rotary Club of Wellington.
Application Requirements
To apply, you’ll need to record a short video (up to three minutes long) introducing yourself and your social enterprise. They want to know:
- What social or environmental impact you intend to have.
- What problem are you addressing? What change do you want to make?
- How you plan to deliver and sustain your enterprise.
- How will you solve this problem? Who will pay you for this? How will this work as a sustainable business?
- Why you are the team to make this happen.
- Who are you? What skills, experiences, and relationships do you have that will help you do this?
- What difference will this money make to your idea.
- What will you use the money for? How will that help you start?
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications are open to all social enterprises, whether new, early-stage, operational or well-established.
- There are two kick-start grants available, from Rotary Clubs at opposite ends of the North Island: Rotary Newmarket and Rotary Wellington. The grants need to go to enterprises located in the North Island – though the impact of your social enterprise could be national or even international. Please note that these are grants, not prizes. Check the requirements below to see if you fit the bill, and be sure to hit the right button when you apply!
- For the Rotary Newmarket grant: Social enterprises in Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty or the East Cape.
- For the Rotary Wellington grant: Social enterprises in Wellington, Manawatu, Taupo, Taranaki or Hawkes Bay.
