The Google News initiative introduces the LATAM News AI Media Lab, a program designed to train journalists, editors, and media leaders in the effective integration of AI into their daily operations.
Program Structure
- The program consists of two phases: open online sessions and 1:1 personalized counseling.
- Group sessions
- Ten virtual sessions open to participating journalists, editors, and media leaders from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru.
- Focused on four axes: fundamentals, tactics, strategy and inspiration.
- 1-on-1 Consultations
- Following the group sessions, media outlets will be able to apply for a spot to be selected as one of the 20 media outlets that will receive 1:1 mentoring to develop projects that solve a specific use case.

Eligibility Criteria
- Media from Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru that meet the following criteria:
- Located in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru.
- Be a for-profit or non-profit news organization.
- Operating for at least 12 months.
- Produce original content.
- Have the support of your managers to fulfill the program commitment.
- Coordinate a team of at least three people who join group sessions.
- Audience
- Participating media outlets should be represented in the group sessions by at least three mid- to senior-level managers, ideally representing the editorial, technology, and sales teams.
