The Balkan Civil Society Development Network (BCSDN) invites regional networks, platforms, initiatives, and other forms of partnerships established in the Western Balkan region and having member organizations in more than 2 countries from the WB region to apply for project grants.
The overall objective of this Call is to support regional networks and initiatives in the Western Balkan region by financially backing projects that will contribute to wider participation of civil society groups and enhanced regional cooperation among CSOs in promoting civic space.
The funding is provided by SIDA, aiming to build strong regional connections by encouraging the regional networks to share their knowledge, experience, and skills in addressing the discrepancies and bottlenecks identified in the development of civil society in the region.
Objective
- CSOs contributed to a conducive environment for civil society development that enables them to be influential actors in society.
- CSOs contributed towards effective, transparent, and accountable work in protecting civic space.
Funding Information
Any grant requested under this Call must fall between the following minimum and maximum amounts:
- Specific Objective 1:
- minimum amount: EUR 30.000,00 (including the audit costs of the project),
- maximum amount: EUR 70.000,00 (including the audit costs of the project).
- Specific Objective 2:
- minimum amount: EUR 20.000,00 (including the audit costs of the project),
- maximum amount: EUR 40.000,00 (including the audit costs of the project).
Duration
- The minimum duration for the implementation of the proposed projects is 6 months and the maximum is 10 months.
- The implementation of the selected projects is expected to start in November 2020.
Location
- Actions must take place in one or more of the following countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia. However, business trips, study visits or similar types of specific activities may take place outside these countries.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for financing, an applicant should:
- Be a regional formal/ informal network of active CSOs, associations, and foundations, including non-governmental, and not-for-profit coalitions, partnerships, networks, sectoral or thematic interest groups, media outlets, research institutes and think tanks:
- registered/ established in at least one of the Western Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Republic of North Macedonia and Serbia),
- registered/ established at least one year before the publication of this Call,
- comprised of member organizations in more than 2 countries from the WB region;
- Be directly responsible for project implementation. The leading organization takes full responsibility for project implementation and management, including the execution of all project expenditures; Have a mission that is in line with the specific objectives of this Call, and
- Demonstrate experience in project management in the application form, by listing as many as three of their greatest, relevant achievements and their partners’ achievements, if any.
