Deadline: 12-Sep-2025
The City of Prospect offers a variety of community grants designed to strengthen local connections, enhance wellbeing, and support initiatives that build community capacity.
Grants of up to $2,000 are available for purchasing small equipment or making facility improvements that support group activities. Up to $3,000 may be awarded for community projects, initiatives, events, or creative ideas that benefit the local area.
Applicants may use grant funding to cover public liability insurance if the project requires it. A single project or similar activity can only be funded twice within a three-year period, as the grant is not meant to support ongoing or repetitive service delivery.
Event applicants must demonstrate commitment to a zero waste to landfill goal. All necessary permits and approvals must be obtained, and associated costs are the responsibility of the applicant. Compliance with all relevant laws and safety standards, such as the Child Safety Act, Disability Discrimination Act, and Work Health and Safety Act, is mandatory.
Successful applicants are required to acknowledge the City of Prospect’s support in any promotional material. Applicants must also show that good governance practices are either in place or being developed. Those who have not properly completed acquittals for previous grants risk future funding.
To be eligible, applicants must be not-for-profit incorporated organisations or similar legal entities. The initiative must align with the goals of creating an engaged community or promoting vibrancy across the City of Prospect. All funded projects must directly benefit the Prospect community.
Certain expenses and activities are not eligible. These include reimbursement for already-spent money, maintenance of council-owned buildings where Council is the lessor, ongoing programs (unless as a pilot), travel costs, and activities that duplicate existing services. Also excluded are fundraising efforts, profit-making initiatives, administrative costs, retrospective payments, and political or commercial activities unless specific community-focused criteria are met.
Applicants with outstanding debts to the Council or incomplete grant evaluations will not be considered. State or federal departments are generally ineligible unless the application clearly benefits the local Prospect community and falls outside their usual responsibilities.
