Deadline: 30-Sep-2025
The Beyond Blindness (Blind Welfare Association of SA) has established an Annual Award to support a young South Australian with a vision impairment in developing their skills in music or the performing arts.
The award aims to recognize the potential of a current vision-impaired student in music or performing arts and assist them in reaching their goals. Funds can be used for additional tutoring or to purchase musical instruments or equipment.
The award amount is $2,000.
To be eligible, applicants must be Australian citizens studying at a South Australian primary or secondary school. They must have a vision impairment and demonstrate outstanding skills in music or performing arts. Applicants should also show how the Trevor Frost Award will help them achieve their potential.
Previous award recipients are not eligible to apply again. However, previous applicants who have not won before are encouraged to reapply.
Applications require the nomination and support of the student’s teacher. The student’s parent or guardian must also sign to confirm that the award will be used as intended.
A selection committee from the Beyond Blindness Board of Management will choose the winner.
The successful recipient will be presented with the Trevor Frost Award in person in December 2025, with the exact date and location to be announced later.
The winner may be invited to speak or perform at the next year’s presentation night to share their experience and promote the award.
The awardee may also be asked to participate in marketing efforts for Beyond Blindness, such as sharing their story or photo on the website, newsletter, Facebook, or radio interviews.
Parental or guardian consent to publish the student’s story and photo is required to submit an application.
