Deadline: 24-Sep-2025
Applications are now open for the Global Innovation Fellowships – Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, offering UK-based early and mid-career researchers in the humanities and social sciences an exciting chance to develop their skills, networks, and careers. This fellowship supports work across creative, cultural, public, private, and policy sectors to tackle challenges requiring innovative approaches and fresh solutions.
The fellowship encourages researchers within the SHAPE community to build deeper connections beyond academia, enabling effective knowledge mobilization and personal skill development. The aim is to foster a mutually beneficial partnership between the award holder and Carnegie, broadening networks, perspectives, and impact in both policy and academic spheres.
Applications are welcomed in five key areas: Sustainability, Climate and Geopolitics; Global Order and Institutions; South and East Asia; Middle East and North Africa; and Security and Defence. Up to two one-year fellowships are available, hosted at Carnegie’s offices in Washington DC, Singapore, or Beirut, with awards up to £150,000 for 12 months (80% FEC).
Eligible applicants must be UK residents with a current long-term academic appointment and bring fresh perspectives to address the outlined challenges. Interdisciplinary approaches and engagement between academic and non-academic environments are highly valued. Note that independent researchers and postgraduate students are not eligible, and applicants cannot hold more than one comparable British Academy award simultaneously.
