Deadline: 06-Sep-2025
The Code4Europe Consortium has launched a new grant scheme to strengthen grassroots initiatives and expand the reach of EU Code Week within local ecosystems. This initiative aims to boost digital education, coding, and computational thinking through the establishment of new support hubs and flagship local activities.
JA Europe is inviting applications for funding to support the creation of these hubs in selected countries. These hubs will serve as local centers that promote coding education, support educators, and encourage collaboration among communities and stakeholders. They will also play a central role in spreading awareness about EU Code Week and coordinating with ambassadors, volunteers, and government representatives.
The grant scheme is designed to help local actors develop innovative, scalable ideas that integrate coding into education systems. It also encourages community engagement, supports large-scale local initiatives, and strengthens fundraising efforts to ensure long-term sustainability of the hubs.
A total of €30,000 will be distributed to selected applicants, with individual proposals eligible for funding amounts between €5,000 and €10,000. Funding will be awarded based on the quality, clarity, and impact of the proposed activities.
Eligible applicants include schools, educational institutions, libraries, NGOs, private organizations, coding clubs, and associations specializing in computational thinking. The opportunity is open to countries without a current national EU Code Week hub or where only a regional hub outside the country exists. These include Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Lithuania, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Sweden, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia.
Applications will be evaluated on presentation, alignment with EU Code Week priorities, methodological soundness, use of assessment tools, stakeholder collaboration, and the initiative’s broader impact. Special consideration will be given to proposals that involve diverse participants, promote STEM education, and ensure the inclusion of girls in coding activities.
