Deadline: 16-Sep-2025
Applications are now open for the National Science Foundation’s Translation to Practice (TTP) Program. This initiative, led by the NSF Directorate for Technology, Innovation and Partnerships (NSF TIP), works across sectors to advance key goals—accelerating technology translation, fostering regional innovation, and preparing the U.S. workforce for future high-paying STEM jobs.
The program emphasizes translating scientific research into practical solutions that create real-world impact. This includes improving quality of life, boosting economic and job growth, enhancing national security, and maintaining the country’s global competitiveness. Scientific breakthroughs can address major societal challenges across industries like energy, healthcare, education, transportation, agriculture, and national defense. However, translating research into practice often follows complex and non-linear paths.
The TTP program supports use-inspired research and activities that move innovation from the lab to real-world application. It also encourages collaboration between higher education institutions and a wide range of partners, such as industry, government agencies, nonprofits, philanthropies, and international organizations. A key focus is also on advancing STEM education and broadening participation in innovation and entrepreneurship, particularly among students and postdoctoral researchers.
A total of $30 million in funding is available for this program. Awards will range from $600,000 to $2 million.
Eligible applicants include U.S.-based nonprofit, non-academic organizations such as independent research labs, museums, and professional societies. Accredited two- and four-year higher education institutions, including community colleges, are also eligible to apply on behalf of their faculty.
