The French Embassy in Pakistan is inviting applications from Pakistani artists and creatives interested in undertaking an artistic residency in France. Support from the Embassy includes a monthly stipend and travel cost coverage for any residency project focused on artistic research or creation. Eligible fields include music, visual arts, literature, cinema, comic books, photography, theatre and stage, dance, design, fashion, or multidisciplinary projects.
Residencies last from 1 to 2 months and must take place within a host artistic residency in France. Priority is given to projects hosted by institutions recommended by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, as listed in an attached document. Grantees receive a monthly stipend of €1700, coverage for roundtrip economy flights to France, second-class train travel if needed, and social security and insurance coverage.
The minimum residency duration is one month, with a maximum of two months, and the latest possible end date is December 31, 2025. Applications are open to Pakistani nationals with valid passports but not to French nationals or dual French-Pakistani citizens. Grantees must comply with grant rules and submit a final report to the French Embassy within three months of completing their stay. French language proficiency is not required. Employees of Alliance Française, Institut Français, and the French Embassy are ineligible.
Applications will be evaluated based on the artistic and intellectual quality of the project, its relevance to the applicant’s previous career, its connection to French creation and heritage, and professional contacts in France. The selection process will also prioritize inclusivity, diversity, and gender parity, aligning with France’s feminist diplomacy.
Applicants must submit a CV or portfolio, a project summary (1-2 pages), and a letter or email from the chosen host residency confirming the project’s feasibility. All documents must be in PDF format, in English or French, attached directly to the application email with a maximum total size of 5 MB. Applications using file transfer services like WeTransfer will not be accepted, and incomplete submissions will be disqualified.
