Deadline: 31-Jul-2025
UN Women is inviting proposals from civil society organizations to implement gender-responsive interventions in the dairy value chain. These efforts aim to empower women and improve dairy farming practices in the municipalities of Malësi e Madhe and Dibër.
The primary goal is to strengthen service providers—particularly those part of the Coordinated Referral Mechanism—so they can deliver comprehensive support to survivors of violence. This includes access to psycho-social counseling, legal aid, shelters, and socio-economic reintegration services. The project will help develop and fund reintegration plans while coordinating with relevant community actors.
A key objective is to enhance women’s roles in the dairy sector by improving their access to knowledge, productive resources, and decision-making opportunities. This includes increasing productivity and improving milk quality through Good Dairy Farming Practices (GDFPs), while also developing infrastructure for milk collection, testing, and traceability.
The intervention will also focus on promoting environmental sustainability and encouraging youth participation to ensure long-term resilience of the dairy sector.
Funding for each proposal can go up to a maximum of 15,000,000 Albanian Lek (ALL). The initiative supports three core outcomes: boosting equitable investment in people at risk of exclusion, advancing innovative policy solutions for sustainable development, and strengthening gender-responsive governance.
Eligible applicants must have at least seven years of experience in women’s economic empowerment, particularly in rural or agricultural settings. They should have five years of experience in value chain development, especially in dairy or livestock sectors, and proven expertise in areas such as veterinary practices, milk hygiene, quality control, and traceability.
Applicants must also demonstrate capacity in training delivery—covering GDFPs, business planning, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship for women farmers. Experience in group formation, leadership development, and establishing market linkages with cooperatives and private sector actors is essential.
Organizations should have prior collaboration with local government and civil society to ensure alignment with policies and sustainability. Proposals must include a qualified team with strong academic backgrounds and experience in gender-sensitive dairy value chain development, supported by CVs and documented achievements.
