Deadline: 31-Jul-2025
The Radcliffe Trust has introduced the Heritage & Crafts Grants Programme to support the development and continuation of skills, knowledge, and experience that are vital to the UK’s heritage and crafts sector. The programme aims to assist emerging craftspeople of high quality, support craft and conservation training, fund projects led by designer-makers with creative outcomes, and strengthen the capacity of the sector. It also backs special needs projects that focus on the therapeutic benefits of learning practical skills.
Trustees may occasionally fund projects in other areas of cultural creativity connected to heritage and crafts, such as theatre, performance, and literature. These grants are considered especially when the project encourages the development of advanced skills among early-career practitioners or supports disadvantaged groups.
Grants typically range from £2,500 to £7,500. To be eligible, applicants must represent a UK-based charity, not-for-profit, or exempt organisation, and the application must be for a specific project—not for general appeals or endowments. Support for bursaries or fees will usually go directly to the training provider. Repeat applicants must wait a year after a previous successful application, and organisations that have received three consecutive years of funding must also take a one-year break before reapplying.
The Trust does not provide funding for retrospective projects, general fundraising appeals, mainstream schools, or individuals. Multi-year grants are not currently offered except in rare circumstances.
