Deadline: 24-Sep-2025
The World Food Programme (WFP) is seeking partners to deliver vital food security and nutrition support in Al Jufrah, Libya.
The initiative focuses on food assistance and nutrition interventions aimed at protecting vulnerable groups, particularly infants, young children, and those at risk of malnutrition. With the added challenges of emergencies, the program underscores the urgent need for coordinated responses to safeguard health and wellbeing.
Central to the initiative is the formation of community groups and committees to actively participate in identifying beneficiaries, registering them, and ensuring fair distribution of food. By engaging local communities, the program seeks to strengthen ownership and accountability, while guaranteeing that assistance reaches those most in need. Partners will also be expected to establish detailed distribution plans, outlining the number of beneficiaries and the delivery timeline, while working in coordination with WFP and government entities to ensure efficiency.
Partners will be responsible for the full chain of handling, from receiving WFP commodities to storage, transportation, and delivery to beneficiaries. Strong measures must be taken to preserve food quality, prevent deterioration, and reduce losses. The use of appropriate commodity tracking systems will be mandatory to monitor and document all stages of reception, storage, and distribution. This includes certifying deliveries, maintaining records, and providing WFP with timely, accurate reports.
WFP will require unobstructed access to all facilities where food commodities are stored or distributed, with monitoring conducted directly or through third-party mechanisms. Transparency and accountability are key aspects of the partnership, ensuring that resources are safeguarded and delivered efficiently. Empty packaging and containers must be managed in accordance with agreements, either retained, distributed, or sold as appropriate.
The program also emphasizes the protection of beneficiaries’ rights. Communities must be informed about the collection and use of personal data, with individuals given the ability to update or withdraw their information at any time. Partners will also be responsible for addressing issues identified through monitoring and feedback systems, taking corrective actions promptly to uphold the quality and credibility of the program.
Through this initiative, WFP aims to strengthen the food security and nutrition landscape in Al Jufrah by working with local partners who bring technical capacity, accountability, and a commitment to protecting the most vulnerable. The goal is to create a reliable and efficient system that ensures food assistance and nutrition services not only reach people in need but do so in a way that upholds dignity, inclusivity, and trust.
