The Protocol on Cooperation in Science and Technology between the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) and the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia (NITRA) has launched a call to enhance the cooperative activities in the field of research between the two countries.
The objectives of this call are to allow partners to collaborate internationally and gain access to new research environments, facilities, knowledge, and expertise in order to enhance the quality of their research. This call is open to applications in all areas of science and technology.
TÜBİTAK and NITRA will fund project partners from their respective countries with grants provided from the national budget in accordance with their national funding regulations. On the Turkish side, eligible partners can receive up to 1.600.000 Turkish Liras per project, with specific budget items such as travel expenses, representation and promotion expenses, and scholarship expenses being covered. The daily allowance for scientific visits will follow Law No. 6245, along with economy class tickets for travel to Serbia. On the Serbian side, the planned project budget for financing mutual visits of researchers is 1.080.000 Serbian Dinars per project, with support including travel, accommodation, daily allowances, health insurance, and other relevant expenses according to national regulations.
The projects will have a maximum duration of 24 months, with international visits in one direction limited to two months per year. Progress will be monitored through reports and final evaluations by both funding institutions. The joint call will remain open between 1 September 2025 and 12 November 2025 through the respective online application systems, with Turkish partners required to complete the e-signature process by 19 November 2025.
Eligibility criteria specify that Turkish applicants may include higher education institutions, training and research hospitals, public institutions and organizations, as well as capital companies in Türkiye. Certain organizations, such as associations, cooperatives, unions, and sole proprietorships, are not eligible. The project team may consist of project managers, researchers, consultants, support staff, and fellows, with clear requirements for qualifications and experience. Serbian applicants must comply with national rules and requirements, and eligibility extends to researchers, teachers, and associates at higher education institutions and scientific research organizations.
Evaluation of project proposals will follow the respective national procedures of TÜBİTAK and NITRA, with both sides exchanging and merging ranking lists before approving final selections. Proposals will be assessed on criteria such as scientific and technological excellence, methodology, project management, contribution of international collaboration, and impact on the Turkish side, while Serbian evaluation will focus on project quality, innovation, participation of young researchers, and broader cooperation goals. Only those projects approved by both TÜBİTAK and NITRA will be funded.
