The Greater Sauk Community Foundation is accepting applications for its Grant Program to help the citizens of Sauk County and surrounding areas create enduring charitable contributions in their communities.
The Greater Sauk Community Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit tax-exempt public charity. The Community Foundation enables people like you to establish charitable funds. The goal is to make it easy for individual gifts to grow into individual, named endowments. Your fund will be managed locally and professionally.
The goals are to:
- Responsibly solicit, manage, and distribute philanthropic assets created by charitable gifts and bequests.
- Communicate opportunities and benefits of philanthropy to communities served.
- Demonstrate leadership and act as a catalyst to design programs and identify issues in collaboration with other foundations, corporations, organizations and communities.
- Engage in creative and sensitive grant-making to enrich communities served, devoting special emphasis to education, the arts, health and human services, and the preservation of historical, cultural and natural resources.

In awarding community grants from the Greater Sauk Community Foundation, they favor innovative proposals that:
- Positively impact the quality of life in the service area.
- Promote collaboration and reduce service duplication.
- Originate in the private sector and demonstrate strong volunteer involvement.
- Strengthen the ability of the communities to respond more effectively to needs.
- Help people to help themselves.
- Build upon the strengths of the communities.
- Apply the Foundation’s resources where they will make a tangible difference in meeting important community needs.
They attempt to understand both the specific objectives of a request and the long-term benefits that will be derived by the community if the project is funded. Consideration is given to those organizations that are tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or projects with a charitable purpose.
Eligibility Criteria
The Foundation welcomes grant requests from organized groups within the Greater Sauk Community Foundation service area (Adams, Columbia, Iowa, Juneau, Richland, Sauk, and Vernon counties):
- Independent nonprofit organizations
- Charitable organizations classified as 501(c)(3) under the Internal Revenue Code
- Local units of municipal, county, state or national organizations
- Groups or clubs organized to sponsor a charitable project
