Deadline: 23-Sep-2025
The City of Toronto has opened applications for the Neighbourhood Climate Action Grants, offering up to $7,500 per resident‑led project to fund initiatives that address climate change in local communities.
These grants are designed to support groups that educate and engage the public on climate change, reduce emissions, or align with Toronto’s climate goals as laid out in its TransformTO Net Zero Strategy and the Strong Neighbourhoods Strategy.
Eligible applicants are resident-led groups made up of at least three people living in different households in Toronto, and projects based in priority areas—Neighbourhood Improvement Areas or Emerging Neighbourhoods—are given preference. Projects may include new ideas or expansions of existing ones, as long as they contribute to climate action and are not simply ongoing operations. The kinds of work supported range from repair and swap‑events, bike or walking challenges, planting trees and other nature‑based approaches, to educational workshops, toolkits, or public shows of climate awareness.
The application window opens in late August 2025 and closes in September 2025, with project implementation set for January through December of 2026. Successful groups will be matched with a local community organization to administer the grant funds, receive guidance on compliance and policies, and submit progress and final reports at various stages.
This grant opportunity is aimed at empowering local, often under‑served communities to take action on climate, build resilience, and forge meaningful changes through grassroots projects.
