Deadline: 28-Sep-2025
Applications are now open for the ReFlow Menstrual Health Innovation Hackathon 2025, inviting innovators, coders, creators, designers, and change makers across India to collaborate and develop impactful solutions for menstrual health and hygiene.
The hackathon focuses on five key themes: Menstrual Health as a Livelihood; Menstrual Health and Faith; Reusable Menstrual Products; Online Awareness Campaigns for Sustainable Period Products; and IOT Solutions in Menstrual Health and Hygiene.
This joint initiative by the IIT Bhubaneswar Research and Entrepreneurship Park in partnership with UNICEF, Ayurarogya Saukhyam Foundation, ActionLab 2050 Foundation, Software Technology Parks of India, and the Odisha Menstrual Health Hygiene Alliance provides participants with mentorship, incubation support, and a robust platform to create meaningful impact. The event encourages participants to rethink menstrual health and co-create solutions that not only transform lives but also build a sustainable and inclusive ecosystem connecting academic research, community practices, and policy advocacy.
The hackathon challenges participants to address real-world problems such as creating business models or skill modules for women and youth to earn through menstrual health-focused social enterprises, designing culturally sensitive communication tools around menstrual health and faith, developing mobile apps to improve access and distribution of reusable menstrual products especially in rural areas, creating innovative online awareness campaigns targeted at young people using social media formats, and devising smart IoT-enabled sanitary solutions including biodegradable napkins, smart incinerators, and hygiene monitoring systems.
Open to start-ups, students, researchers, innovators, professionals, social workers, NGOs, and individual academicians or entrepreneurs across India, teams can consist of 1-3 members. Selected individual participants will need to register their ventures as private limited companies within three months.
Participants stand to gain much beyond rewards, including expert mentorship, potential incubation and funding opportunities at IIT Bhubaneswar, valuable networking with industry leaders, cash prizes, and internship opportunities to further their practical learning.
