The Land Port Authority of India and Council of Architecture (LPAI), in collaboration with MyGov India invites architects, architectural students and firms to envision the Banbasa Land Port set within a rich forest landscape, an eco-sensitive zone.
The opportunity seeks to recognize and promote creative, context-sensitive, sustainable, and implementable design solutions that contribute to the city’s visual appeal and usability. The objective is to ensure that the land port is secure, facilitates ease of traffic movement, and blends seamlessly with the local context.
The competition offers a first prize of Rs. 5,00,000 and a second prize of Rs. 3,00,000, recognizing the best innovative and context-sensitive design solutions for the Banbasa Land Port. This design initiative is open to final-year architectural and planning students, graduates from the last five years, and architects who may have taken a break but are registered with the Council of Architecture (CoA).
Participation can be individual or as a team, with colleges allowed to form a team comprising faculty and students under a one-college-one-team policy. Architectural firms with relevant experience can also participate. Desirable project experience includes involvement in GRIHA, LEED, or IGBC certified projects or development of transportation hubs, urban projects, or multi-modal facilities.
Teams can have up to five participants, ideally including an architect as team leader, a civil engineer, and experts in transport planning and environmental planning. Design submissions are evaluated by a jury of up to five members from relevant institutions or ministries, with the jury responsible for forming evaluation criteria for each round.
All submissions must be in English, with anonymity maintained throughout the documents. The architect’s or participant’s name must not appear on any submission, and each document must include the reference code received during registration. Submissions are accepted only in PDF format, along with a concept note.
