Deadline: 04-Dec-2025
The Charter School Growth Fund is now accepting applications for its Seed Grant opportunity, a funding initiative designed for early-stage charter school organizations ready to grow their impact.
This grant is open to nonprofit charter schools or those in the process of opening a new school or replicating an existing one. Eligible applicants must operate in the United States or U.S. territories and must plan to serve at least an additional 250 students once fully scaled.
Once awarded, the grant can be used toward operational (non-facility) costs that support a school’s growth. If an organization is in its planning year, it may be eligible for a grant of $250,000; as the project matures, funding may range up to $750,000 based on the scale and number of additional students served. The recipient becomes part of a Seed cohort, benefiting from community learning, mentorship, and shared best practices with peer charter organizations.
The Seed Grant offers substantial support to strengthen the foundations of emerging charter networks. It provides not only financial resources but also strategic guidance and capacity building as these schools expand. In the 2026 cycle, giving prospective leaders a window to prepare their proposals carefully, including required data, narrative essays, and supporting templates.
A successful application typically tells a compelling story of vision and leadership. The funders look for school leaders who can write authentically about their motivations, plans, and aspirations. It is also important that applicants begin assembling information early, as the application demands thoughtful delivery of project details and financial forecasts.
This opportunity is ideal for educational leaders who are ready to scale or replicate high-performing public charter schools, particularly those driven by mission and committed to underserved students. With both funding and support, the Seed Grant aims to catalyze growth in promising charter networks and expand access to quality educational choice.
