Deadline: 30-Jan-2026
The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) and German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), both parties invite universities and research institutions to submit joint proposals for scientific and technological research and development (R&D) projects.
Within this call, the project proposals, which contribute to the current state of the art by producing new knowledge, making new scientific interpretations or solving technological problems are aimed to be funded. The aim of the call is to allow partners to collaborate internationally, and gain access to new research environments, facilities, knowledge, and expertise in order to enhance the quality of their research. This call is open for applications in all scientific and technological areas. There is no targeted thematic focus.
Private sector entities are also eligible to submit a research project proposal to TÜBİTAK under this joint call. The initiative provides a significant opportunity for researchers to strengthen international scientific cooperation, with the funding aimed at promoting innovation and technological advancement.
Turkish partners eligible for funding can receive up to 1,600,000 Turkish Liras per project, while overhead and Project Incentive Premium will not be paid. TÜBİTAK will fund travel expenses, representation and promotion expenses up to 57,500 Turkish Liras, and scholarship student expenses. Turkish researchers participating in scientific visits to Germany will receive daily allowances along with economy class flight tickets. German partners, on the other hand, may receive up to 10,000 EUR per year to support their participation.
The costs of exchange of experts, scientists, and other specialists will be covered based on the principle that the sending party meets all related costs connected with travel, lodging, and allowances according to their own regulations. On the Turkish side, funding will be provided through the TÜBİTAK 1071 Program, and all applicants must be registered in the TÜBİTAK ARBIS system. Eligible applicants include public legal RTD entities, higher education institutions, non-university research establishments from the public sector, and the private sector.
Turkish partners must apply via TÜBİTAK’s online portal using e-signature, while German partners must submit through DAAD’s online platform. Both partners are expected to agree on their collaboration independently, as TÜBİTAK and DAAD do not match partners. Project proposals must provide detailed information about objectives, justification, methodology, team composition, and time schedules.
When two or more Turkish institutions collaborate in the same project, they must submit a single joint proposal. Researchers can serve as principal investigators in more than one project under this call. The duration of each project should not exceed 24 months, and international visits for the Turkish side should not exceed 90 days per year. Project monitoring will be carried out through progress and final reports assessed by both TÜBİTAK and DAAD.
Evaluation of proposals will be conducted separately by TÜBİTAK and DAAD following their respective rules and regulations. Both organizations will exchange comprehensive evaluation results, and only those proposals approved by both institutions will receive support.
The joint call will be closed on 30 January 2026 through TÜBİTAK’s and DAAD’s online application systems.
