The India Smart Grid Forum Innovation Awards 2026 aim to celebrate and recognize organizations, projects, products, and personalities that have set new benchmarks in Electricity, Gas, Water, and E-Mobility domains.
Focus areas include Best Smart Grid Project in a DISCOM in India, Most Innovative Renewable Energy Programs/Projects in India including Energy Storage Systems (ESS), Smart Technology across electricity and other utility domains, Emerging Innovation in Electric Mobility Domain, Adoption of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Virtual Reality (VR)/Augmented Reality (AR) and Robotic Solutions, Smart Start-up and Incubator of the Year, Innovative Financing For Energy Transition, Waste-to-Energy including Waste to CNG and Waste to Biogas Projects, Woman in Energy and Utilities, and ISGF President’s Award for the Best Contribution towards Energy Transition in India.
Instituted in 2017, the ISGF Innovation Awards have recognized more than 373 organizations and individuals till 2025. The 10th edition will be conferred on 13 March 2026 during India Smart Utility Week (ISUW 2026) in New Delhi. Nominations are invited from Public and Private Utilities, Urban Local Bodies, Technology Companies, EPC Contractors, Start-ups, Incubators, Researchers, Municipalities, Funding Agencies, and Academia working in India. In 2025, 282 projects submitted nominations, with 36 projects winning the awards and 14 projects receiving Certificates of Merit.
The awards feature multiple categories, each with specific eligibility criteria, including separate recognition for utilities, technology providers, start-ups, incubators, and funding agencies. Participants can submit one project per category, and projects must be completed within the past five years. Innovative and successful implementation of technology, renewable energy projects, electric mobility initiatives, AI/ML/VR/AR adoption, waste-to-energy solutions, and contributions of women in energy are all acknowledged through these awards.
Winners are recognized at the awards ceremony in front of international experts, government officials, and industry leaders. They gain media visibility and are featured in ISGF Bulletins, ISUW post-event reports, ISGF Annual Reports, social media platforms, and the India Smart Grid Knowledge Portal, enhancing their credibility nationally and internationally. Projects are evaluated by a jury based on a structured marking system, including project documentation and presentations.
