The European Commission (hereinafter referred to as the “Commission”), through its representation in Luxembourg, publishes a call for proposals to select partners for the operation of EUROPE DIRECT in the period 2021–2025.
EUROPE DIRECT ensure active and continuous communication with the citizens in order to achieve greater personal responsibility for the Europe project. By organizing information and inclusion activities, EUROPE DIRECT enables citizens to make informed decisions about the future of the EU by fully participating in the democratic process in Europe.
EUROPE DIRECT work closely with the Commission’s representations and the European Parliament’s liaison offices (hereinafter referred to as the “liaison offices”) in the respective Member States. They will also seek to collaborate with other public relations networks and other contact points at Union or local level, and encourage exchanges and coordination between them.
Core Tasks
EUROPE DIRECT must perform the following tasks:
- Task 1: Information and involvement of the citizens: EUROPE DIRECT address the public on EU issues by Information and inclusion measures organize, for example Events, workshops, citizens’ dialogues and other forms of offline or Online interaction.
- Task 2: contacts to local media and multipliers: EUROPE DIRECT maintain regular contacts and strive for the Statements strong partnerships with local media and opinion leaders, including:
- the local press and the journalists working for them;
- local television stations and their editorial boards;
- local radio channels and broadcasters;
- Influencers in social media who are active in the region in question or who are themselves deal with issues that are considered sensitive to the region;

- other local multipliers and opinion leaders.

Funding Information
- For the co-financing of projects under this call for submission of proposals for the first year of implementation (2021) total EUR 105,600 intended.
- The amount of each annual grant for the years 2022-2025 is EUR 45,600.
- The amount of each annual grant for 2021 is EUR 30,400.
- In addition, there is a one-time additional grant for an event in 2021 to apply for EUROPE DIRECT in the amount of EUR 4,800.
Eligibility Criteria
Proposals can be submitted by any of the following applicants:
- a public body such as a municipality or a local / regional Authority at another level or
- an institution under private law with a public mandate
- an association / association of local authorities, non-profit Organizations, social partners, educational or training institutions
Note-Natural persons are not eligible.
