Deadline: 24-Nov-2025
The Riddergade AIR Residency Program offers professional international visual artists a unique opportunity to connect with the Danish art scene through a creative and collaborative residency experience.
The purpose of Riddergade AIR is to create connections between residents and Danish artists, and facilitate new opportunities for the international development of the Danish contemporary art scene.
The residency program includes workshop facilities at Viborg Kunsthal and accommodation in a room in the art hall’s 250 m² villa, located a few minutes’ walk from the art hall with direct access to the Viborg Lakes. Artists receive a travel grant of 3,000 DKK and a monthly stipend of 5,000 DKK to cover living expenses, transportation, materials, and production.
In 2025, this support enables residents to receive a scholarship of 18,000 DKK as a subsidy for materials, living, and travel costs. Participants benefit from professional sparring, collaboration, and exchanges with the art gallery’s staff, local artists, curators, and other stakeholders. A locally rooted network of volunteer co-hosts provides guidance in the local area and assists with practical matters.
The program is designed for professional, international visual artists who can document exhibition experience within an art context and have previous collaborations with curators at a professional level. Participants are expected to hold one or more events during their stay, such as an artist talk, workshop, or open studio presentation.
They are also encouraged to engage actively in the creative environment around Viborg Kunsthal, attend events hosted by the art hall, and contribute to its digital platforms through photos, videos, and online updates.
Curiosity and participation in both the local and national art community are key aspects of the program. Riddergade AIR is supported by Viborg Municipality and the Danish Arts Foundation.
The deadline for applications is 24 November 2025.
