Deadline: 05-Nov-2025
The Land is Life invites Indigenous women leaders who are driving change in their communities to apply.
They welcome proposals with clear and achievable goals that demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing Indigenous Peoples’ rights, gender equality, and community well-being.
Led by Indigenous women, the Indigenous Women’s Program empowers Indigenous women and their organizations across Africa, Asia, and the Americas to claim their rights to land and natural resources, enhance their livelihoods, and safeguard their communities’ entitlements.
Under this program, the fellowship offers personalized mentoring from Indigenous women leaders with proven experience advancing Indigenous Peoples’ rights. Fellows will receive funding and technical support of up to $3,000 USD to design and implement a community-level project, along with a stipend of $3,600 USD to support participation throughout the program.
The fellowship also includes monthly training sessions on key topics related to Indigenous Peoples’ rights, leadership development to strengthen Indigenous women’s voices and decision-making power, networking opportunities to build alliances with partners at various levels, and advocacy support to participate in national and international decision-making spaces.
The project can address key issues such as capacity building, biodiversity conservation, climate action, participation in decision-making, improved livelihoods, governance, and leadership development.
Eligible applicants are Indigenous women between 18 and 35 years old who have not previously been Land is Life fellows. To apply, candidates must fill out the application form and develop a community project that promotes the rights of Indigenous Peoples, with particular attention to the rights of Indigenous women and girls.
Selected fellows commit to designing and implementing a community project to be completed within 10 months, supporting their communities in promoting and protecting Indigenous Peoples’ rights—particularly the rights of Indigenous women and girls—and actively participating in monthly training sessions and peer-learning activities.
Applicants unable to complete the form may apply via a video submission of up to 15 minutes in English, French, or Spanish, ensuring that all application questions are clearly answered. The video should end with the applicant’s oral acceptance of the terms and conditions.
The deadline for applications is November 5, 2025, with results to be announced by January 5, 2026. The fellowship begins on January 12, 2026.
