Indalo eLearning is seeking nominations for the South Africa Women Entrepreneurs Climate Change Award (SiAWECCA) to:
- Promoting entrepreneurial mindset
- Advancing a green economy transition in South Africa
- Supporting gender equality
The South African Women Entrepreneurs Climate Change Awards (SiAWECCA) are South Africa’s first women entrepreneurship award focused on showcasing the most innovative climate smart women owned enterprises in South Africa. The awards are hosted by Indalo Inclusive South Africa in partnership with Gender CC Southern Africa, The Innovation Hub-Climate Innovation Centre South Africa and the United Nations Environment Programme.
SiAWECCA aim to:
- Profile the contribution of women owned enterprises in the Green Economy in South Africa
- Contribute to the transition towards a green climate resilient economy
- Enhance gender equality by promoting full and effective participation of women in economic opportunities in South Africa
- Support the development of climate smart enterprises in South Africa
- Support scale-up of women owned enterprises
Award Information
- The winners will receive a non-reimbursable grant funding of up to R45 000.00.
Eligibility Criteria
You are eligible to apply for the South Africa Entrepreneurs Women Climate Awards if your enterprise meets the following criteria:
- At least 75% women owned and managed
- Be registered in South Africa
- Be at least operational for 1 year with a minimum annual turnover of R50 000
- Women business owner with a pro-active attitude and entrepreneurial drive for advancing inclusive Green Economy
- Deliver economic, social and environmental benefits
- Has potential for scale-up and replication
- The owner is a role model in her community/support local (grassroots climate change mitigation and/or adaptation)
- Innovative technologies, approaches contributing to climate change mitigation and adaptation, and nature based approaches that benefit ecosystems and livelihoods
- Should demonstrate how they are addressing COVID-19 and the climate crisis, and how they would work to increase their resilience to future crisis
