Deadline: 30-Nov-2025
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Thailand has opened a new call for proposals under its “Strengthening SDG Localization in Thailand Phase II” initiative.
The opportunity is aimed at civil society organisations working at the sub‑national level to support the localisation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across select Thai provinces.
Under the small grants programme, UNDP will contribute approximately up to a maximum of USD 15,000 for each successful proposal, providing a meaningful boost for initiatives that advance local SDG implementation.
The focus is on pilots or innovative approaches that can be applied at the provincial level. Participating provinces include Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Tak, Narathiwat, and Bangkok, where local data, governance, and community engagement efforts are being strengthened. Applicants are expected to contribute to efforts to build local capacities, integrate gender and human‑rights perspectives, and work in multi‑stakeholder partnerships.
Eligible organisations are invited to submit project ideas that help measure or improve progress on provincial SDG indicators, raise awareness of the SDGs among vulnerable and marginalised groups, and build inclusive, gender‑balanced networks of local stakeholders. Projects should be guided by a theory of change and demonstrate how their work will be sustainable and scalable over time.
The grant opportunity emphasises inclusivity and encourages projects that address climate resilience, sustainable tourism, cross‑boundary environmental challenges, entrepreneurship among vulnerable groups, and improved local governance. The proposals should clearly articulate how they link to existing provincial SDG profiles or indicators — thereby aligning with local development planning frameworks rather than operating in isolation.
For organisations ready to submit, the process requires filling in the application form and ensuring the project team, budget, and workplan are in place. This is a timely chance for local organisations in Thailand to secure funding, strengthen their capacity, and advance community‑led development aligned with global goals.
