Deadline: 18-December-2025
The Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility is now accepting applications for its Seniors Community Grants to enhance the quality of life for older adults by ensuring they remain independent, safe, and engaged within their communities.
The focus of the Seniors Community Grants Program is to help seniors live independently, live with safety and security, stay connected to their community, avoid isolation, and achieve greater financial security and social connections.
The Seniors Community Grants, ranging from $1,000 to $25,000, are designed to support community organizations and not-for-profit community groups that promote social inclusion, volunteerism, and community engagement for older adults aged 55 and above. These grants aim to ensure that older Ontarians can lead fulfilling lives by staying active participants in their communities and maintaining their independence and well-being.
Eligible applicants must represent seniors’ groups or provide programs and services that directly benefit older adults living in Ontario. They must also be registered in Transfer Payment Ontario and comply with filing, reporting, and other requirements under the federal Income Tax Act or as established by the Canada Revenue Agency.
Three categories of applicants are eligible for funding. Municipalities and Indigenous governing bodies can apply for up to $25,000. This includes organizations such as non-governing Indigenous service bodies, Local Services Boards, District Social Services Administration Boards, not-for-profit licensed retirement homes, public libraries, Ontario branches of the Royal Canadian Legion, and provincial organizations with independently operated local offices.
Individuals representing local unincorporated community groups can apply for up to $10,000. The individual applicant will be responsible for project implementation, financial management, and reporting, including maintaining all expenditure records for audit purposes. The represented group must have existed for at least one year before the application date.
