Deadline: 12 December 2025
The BIPS Outreach Project Grant provides support to outreach projects that promote the knowledge of the Persianate world among a non-academic audience.
Projects can range from exhibitions to workshops, lecture series and events for the general public, must have a clear outreach goal and be geared towards audiences which do not normally have access to scholarship on the Persianate world.
BIPS usually invites applications for this scheme once a year, with awards limited to £2,000. These grants are designed to support creative and accessible public-facing initiatives that bring academic perspectives on the Persianate world to broader audiences.
Eligible applicants must be affiliated with a UK-based university, institute of higher education, museum, or registered charity. While employment at these institutions is not mandatory, all applications must include a safeguarding risk assessment and demonstrate compliance with the ethical policies of both the affiliated and host institutions.
BIPS has also emphasized that it will not fund travel to any country where the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) advises against travel. Applicants are required to submit several supporting documents as part of their application package.
These include a completed BIPS application form, a two-page CV, a safeguarding risk assessment, and a letter of support from the affiliated institution confirming its ability to receive and manage the grant as well as compliance with institutional ethical policies.
Additionally, two letters of reference are needed from individuals familiar with the applicant’s previous experience in running similar projects, and the referees should not be directly involved in the proposed outreach initiative. The current call is now open, and the submission deadline is 12 December 2025 at 5 PM.
