The Maddock, Leicester and Burslem Fund awards small grants and bursaries, to promote the education of young people who reside or have a parent residing within the boundaries of the City of Stoke on Trent and the Borough of Newcastle under Lyme.
The programme offers financial support to young people aged 15 to 21 from Stoke on Trent or Newcastle under Lyme who are either preparing to start or have already begun college or university. It aims to assist students who have achieved exceptional academic results or performed above expectations based on their background.
Eligible expenses include course-related costs such as textbooks, software, stationery, equipment, and college deposits, while travel, living costs, and new computers are excluded. Two types of funding are available: a bursary of £2000 per year for up to three years of university study, and a grant of up to £2000 for one-off educational purchases.
The selection panel prioritizes excellence, educational achievement and potential particularly considering candidates from underprivileged or disadvantaged backgrounds. Applicants must submit proof of university offers and exam results.
Applications can be submitted anytime and are reviewed twice yearly—those sent between 1st May and 31st October are considered in November, and those between 1st November and 30th April are reviewed in May.
