Deadline: 7 December 2025
The International Women’s Media Foundation has announced its Kim Wall Memorial Fund for journalists whose work embodies the spirit of Kim’s reporting.
Grants of up to $5,000 are available. The IWMF supports costs directly related to reporting, such as travel, logistics, visa fees, insurance, stipends, and translation services.
However, the grant does not cover equipment purchases, rentals, or academic research. Applicants can include compensation for collaborators like photographers or producers in their budget proposals, though applications must be submitted individually.
The program aims to empower underrepresented voices in journalism by enabling women and nonbinary journalists to explore diverse subcultures through in-depth reporting. Applicants from anywhere in the world are welcome, provided they have at least one year of professional experience in the news media. Reporting can be produced in any language, but strong English proficiency is required to participate in the program.
Applications closes on December 7, 2025, at 11:59 PM EST through submittable. The IWMF will review proposals in January and February 2026, with results to be announced by mid-March. Grantees will be publicly revealed on Kim’s birthday, March 23, 2026.
