Deadline: 28-Nov-2025
Somerset Community Foundation has announced a new round of funding for community groups in areas affected by the Hinkley Point C (HPC) project, with around £200,000 available to be distributed this year.
Grants of up to £20,000 are available over three years, or up to £10,000 for projects lasting one year. The fund is designed to support local initiatives that help address the impacts of HPC or take advantage of the opportunities it creates. Each year, around two out of every three applications receive support, giving well-prepared groups a strong chance of success.
Priority will be given to organisations based in communities that have experienced greater impacts from Hinkley Point C and that enjoy broad backing from local residents. Projects that clearly show how they are responding to the challenges or benefits brought by HPC, while working in collaboration with others, will be most likely to receive funding.
Somerset Community Foundation is also looking to support initiatives that provide good value for money and demonstrate clear plans for sustainability beyond the end of the funding period. The goal is to ensure that funded projects deliver long-term benefits and continue to strengthen communities well into the future.
To be eligible, applicants must meet the fund’s minimum standards, which outline the types of groups that can receive grants, how they should be managed, how they are expected to handle finances, and the measures they take to keep people safe. Only groups working in areas directly affected by Hinkley Point C can apply.
This funding offers an important opportunity for local organisations to make a lasting difference by supporting community resilience, inclusion, and development in Somerset’s HPC-impacted areas.
