The Arts Build has launched the 2021-2022 Artists Work Grant Program to provide project funding to individual artists, artist studios and non-profit arts organizations to produce artworks for public spaces within the city limits of Chattanooga.
With the sudden loss of audiences, jobs, and patrons experienced by the region’s arts industry due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the grant program provides economic stimulus that benefits both the creative sector and the public realm.
The Goals of the Program are to:
- Provide much-needed work for independent artists in the wake of COVID-19;
- Provide project funding to individual artists, artist studios and non-profit arts organizations;
- Infuse the local creative economy with various project-related purchases tied to the creation, installation, and documentation of art projects;
- Produce artworks for Chattanooga’s public realm that:
- enhance and animate outdoor or indoor public spaces;
- provide access to a diversity of artists and artistic experiences;
- elevate the role artists play in connecting people and place.
- Create socially distant, yet shared experiences that prompt hope, healing, and connection for Chattanoogans.
Funding Information
- Exhibition & Performance grants will be funded from $2,500 to $25,000.
- Public Art grants will be funded from $25,000 to $75,000.
Categories
- Exhibition & Performance Grant: Exhibition & Performance grants are funded privately and administered by Arts Build with support as needed from Public Art Chattanooga.
- Public Art Grant: Public Art grants are funded by the City of Chattanooga and administered by Southeast TN Development District with support from Public Art Chattanooga.
Eligibility Criteria
- Individual artists;
- Arts organizations partnering with a lead artist;
- Organizations with or without 501(c)(3) status;
- Artists and arts organizations residing or working in the Thrive 2055 Region and can provide proof of residency within one of the 16 counties in Tennessee (Bledsoe, Bradley, Hamilton, McMinn, Marion, Meigs, Polk, Rhea, Sequatchie), Georgia (Catoosa, Dade, Murray, Walker, Whitfield), and Alabama (Dekalb, Jackson).
