The Montrose Community Foundation is encouraging for its Impact Grants program to expand the capacity of community organizations and incubate qualifying community projects and partnerships, the MCF supports organizations with programs benefiting Montrose and the surrounding area.
They will support the broad category of nonprofit sustainability understanding that the past seven months have affected local organization’s ability to carry out programming and activities and fundraise. Their goal is to have organizations tell what they can do with grant funds and give insight on current community needs.
Objectives
2020 MCF Impact Grants will:
- Promote organizations that demonstrate financial responsibility and sustainability;
- Encourage back-to-basics approach (focus on CORE mission and programs);
- Support a “better together” approach (significant collaboration, less duplication of services);
- Invest in leadership that demonstrates action during these times;
- Support internal organizational innovations or adaptions to “new normal”;
- Provide relief for organizations or projects that have not been able to obtain significant COVID-19 funding.
Funding Information
- Grant amounts will be from $1,000-$5,000.
- For 2020-2021, MCF Grants will be awarded for organizations offering programs or activities benefiting the Montrose community and surrounding area. Due to unusual circumstances facing our community during the past six months, this year’s MCF Grants will focus on recovery and resiliency of their local nonprofits.
Funding Guidelines

Ineligible Funding
Grant will not fund:
- Medical expenses for an individual.
- Requests for travel expenses.
- College scholarships.
- Requests from religious organizations for the sole purpose of furthering that religion.
- Requests to support political activities or those designed to influence legislation.
Eligibility Criteria
- Organizations should be a registered 501 (c) 3 or have a current fiscal sponsor. If not a 501 (c) 3, please be prepared to describe your charitable or tax exemption status. The MCF can give to an organization that does not have the IRS tax status, but the project MUST be charitable.
